Gibraltar Laboratories, Inc. is pleased to announce the availability of an expanded array of testing services for the Dietary Supplements and Nutraceuticals markets. “We note that more and more consumers are interested in non- prescription health related products.” said Dr. Daniel Prince, President. The services are USP <2021> “MICROBIAL LIMIT TESTS—DIETARY SUPPLEMENTS” and <2091> “WEIGHT VARIATION OF DIETARY SUPPLEMENTS”. These services are performed in the Company’s GMP compliant Chemistry and Microbiology laboratories.

Examples of Services Available

1. Individual Monograph testing i.e. Identification, Assay, Residuals on Drying, Heavy Metals etc.
2. Presence of anaerobes including Clostridium sp. and other toxin producers
3. Presence of gram negative enteric pathogens beyond the conventional E. coli and Salmonella.
4. Presence of pathogenic fungi
5. Total count not to exceed a company promulgated specification.

In the area of Microbiology, newer USP publications will suggest increased emphasis on intestinal bacteria other than E. coli or Salmonella as well as anaerobes such as Clostridium and pathogens and fungi. Gibraltar’s microbial identification department is skilled in performing these assays.
